陸軍大将：General

例えばマッカーサー大将はGeneral MacArthur　と呼ばれる。

昭和天皇がマッカーサー大将を訪問しにきた時、彼は天皇が命乞いにきたと思った。

When Showa Emperor (or Emperor Hirohito) came to visit General MacArhtur, he thought that Emperor came to ask him to save his life.

帝国海軍：Imperial Navy

帝国海軍は日露戦争でバルチック艦隊を打ち破った。

The Imperial Japanese Navy defeated the Baltic Fleet in the Russo-Japanese War.

海軍大将：Admiral

海軍中将：Vice Admiral

市丸中将は硫黄島の洞窟の中でルーズベルト大統領へ手紙を書き、散華された。

Lieutenant General Ichimaru wrote a letter to President Roosevelt in a cave on Iwo Jima and died in the battle.

海軍少将：Rear Admiral

奇襲：surprise attack

真珠湾攻撃は奇襲だと考えられているが、そこには航空母艦が一つも残されていなかったことからアメリカ側は日本が来ることを既に知っていたと言われている。

Attack on Pearl Harbor is thought to be a surprise attack, but it is also said that the American side already knew that Japan would come based on the fact that there were no aircraft carriers left there.

特攻：Kamikaze Attack /Suicide Attack

特攻により14,000名以上の日本男児が亡くなったと言われている。

It is said that over 14000 Japanese young men died in Kamikaze Attack.

特攻隊員の年齢は17歳から32歳で、平均年齢21.6歳でした。

零戦：Zero Fighter Plane

零戦は当時、世界最長の距離を飛行できる最先端の戦闘機だった。

The Zero was a state-of-the-art fighter airplane capable of flying the longest distance in the world at that time.

遺書：Farewell note, Suicide note, will

特攻隊が書いた遺書には家族への愛、特に残された母への心配の気持ちが綴られていた。

Farewell notes of Kamikaze pilots were expressing full of love for their families, especially concerns about their mother left behind.

暗号：Code

暗号を解読：Break the code

真珠湾に向かっていたことはすでに暗号解読によりアメリカ（ワシントン）には知られていた。

Washington DC already knew that Japan was approaching Pearl Harbor by breaking the Japanese codes.

大佐：Coronel

ニミッツ大佐は海軍大将の東郷平八郎を敬愛しており、戦艦三笠の建て直しに多額の寄付をした。：

Coronel Nimitz deeply honored Admiral Togo and donated a great amount of money to refurbish Battleship Mikasa.

中佐：Lieutenant Coronel

少佐：Lieutenant Commander

伍長：Corporal

第442連隊戦闘団（ 442nd Regimental Combat Team）

４４２連隊は全員、日系の日本人により結成されており、アメリカ史上、最高の名誉を与えられている。

The 442nd Regiment was all formed by Japanese Americans or Americans of Japanese descent, and it has been given the highest honor in American history.
